The College of Arts and Sciences and the Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering at Indiana University (IU) in Bloomington, Indiana invite applications for four tenured Associate or Full Professor positions in the area of human and artificial intelligence to begin in fall, 2023 or after. Appointments will be in one or more departments, including Psychological and Brain Sciences, Cognitive Science, Informatics, Computer Science, and the Schools of Education and Optometry. We encourage applications from scholars who apply interdisciplinary perspectives across these fields to a variety of domains, including robotics, healthcare, engineering, education, biology, and virtual reality, among others. The positions are part of a new initiative that aims to transform our understanding of human and artificial intelligence, centered around the new Mind Brain Machine Quadrangle and the Luddy Artificial Intelligence Center. IU has long been an international leader in research on cognition across humans, animals, and artificial systems, and how intelligence manifests in embodied cognition. These hires build on existing strengths to position IU at the forefront of new research innovations in our understanding of human cognition and the development of intelligent computing technologies.
Applicants must have a PhD in psychology, neuroscience, cognitive science, computer science, the learning sciences, or a related field, and a distinguished record of scholarship, teaching, and professional experience appropriate for a tenured professorship at IU Bloomington. The positions are open at the full and associate professor levels, but exceptional candidates at the assistant professor level may be considered.
